We are one of Brazil’s largest biodiesel producers. This renewable and biodegradable fuel is produced chiefly from vegetable oils and animal fats. In Brazil, all the diesel sold to the end consumer must include a percentage of biodiesel in its composition. This guarantees that millions of tons of CO2 are prevented from being released into the atmosphere.

Besides reducing CO2 emissions, biodiesel also reduces the emission of several other pollutants, such as carbon monoxide (CO), particulate matter, sulfur oxide (SOx) and total hydrocarbons, helping to slow down the increase in pollution and improve the life quality of people, especially those living in major urban centers. As such, the use of biodiesel also contributes to Brazil fulfilling the commitments assumed in the Paris Agreement (COP21) of cutting 53% of its greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 2030.

Simultaneously, Oleoplan’s industrial operations contribute to creating demand for many products that were once considered waste, such as recovered frying oil and fat from the animal recycling sector. By absorbing these products, we prevent them from being incorrectly disposed of in the environment, polluting soil and water.

Trucks powered by 100% biodiesel

Sustainability seeks to balance economic development, environmental protection and social responsibility. Introducing trucks powered by 100% biodiesel in Oleoplan’s own fleet aims to promote this Sustainability in the segment, boosting the positive externalities derived from the initiative.

In 2024, we started the B100 fleet with 2 vehicles in the Veranópolis-RS operation (Oleoplan S.A.) and 3 vehicles in the Iraquara-BA operation (Oleoplan Nordeste). The pick-up and delivery routes were sized to reflect normal traffic and load conditions, identical to those observed in the rest of the Group’s logistics operation.

To track performance indicators, we hired SENAI in Novo Hamburgo-RS, which will provide all the relevant technical and methodological support.

Biodiesel: we produce it; we use it.

The Project in big numbers:

More than R$6 milion invested in the acquisition of 5 Scania trucks, model R 460 Super, powered 100% by biodiesel;

The B100-powered trucks are equipped with tipping buckets with a load capacity of 37.5 tons of soybean meal and/or soybeans;

The biodiesel used in the B100-powered trucks guarantees a reduction of between 70% and 94% in the emission of polluting gases.
