On 8 October 2024, the ‘Fuel of the Future’ law was passed, an initiative that brings important developments to the Brazilian agro-energy sector. Oleoplan was honoured to take part in this historic moment, reaffirming its commitment to sustainability and innovation.
Fuel for the Future is a legislation that establishes a new regulatory framework for biofuels in the country. Among other things, the law creates national programmes for green diesel, sustainable aviation fuel, and increases the blend of ethanol in petrol and biodiesel in diesel.
During the event, held in Brasilia, energy sector leaders, government representatives and companies gathered to celebrate this breakthrough. Part of our B100 Fleet – 100% biodiesel-powered trucks – travelled 2,000 km from Veranópolis/RS to Brasília/DF, demonstrating the viability and efficiency of biofuel. After this journey, they completed another 1,000 km to Iraquara/BA, where they will be used routinely to collect soya and deliver soya meal to our suppliers and end customers. We recognise the efforts of the National Congress and the Federal Executive Branch to raise biofuels to a new level of prominence. This is not just a public policy, but a national strategy aimed at decarbonisation and sustainable economic growth.
